Marbella has the most blue flags for beaches

Antonio Espada, Councilor for Environment in Marbella announced last Sunday that the beaches of the town have been rated as excellent by the Ministry of Health, because of the water’s good quality.
The Marbella councilor has announced the results of the medical report of the town’s beaches’ water for the 2013 season, which ended with the score of "excellent" in all of the various study areas.

The study indicates that monitoring was performed in accordance with Royal Decree 1341/2007 of 11 October, based on the European Directives. Following the criteria of rules and data submitted by the autonomous region, the Ministry of Health transferred the status of Marbella's beaches.

Espada pointed out the "excellent result" of the 2013 report, in regards to water quality, and "the blue flags awarded to the town’s beaches, making us the town with the most awards for beaches in Spain once again".

Samples were taken from Artola, Las Chapas, Los Monteros, El Cable-Rio Real, Venus-Bajadilla, La Fontanilla-Faro Nagüeles, Nueva Andalucia, Puerto Banus, San Pedro Alcántara and El Faro.

Marbella was awarded blue flags over the previous year, for the beaches of El Faro and the Puerto Deportivo, in addition to Artola (Cabopino) Guadalmina, San Pedro, El Cable-Rio Real, Puerto Banús, Rio Verde, Venus-Bajadilla and the port of La Bajadilla.
