"Marbella Luxury Weekend" a success

15 June 2014

More than 55.000 visitors have been to Puerto Banus to enjoy the Marbella Luxury Weekend 2014, as reported by Councilor for Tourism, José Luis Hernández. He explained that the number of visitors exceeded the numbers achieved in the 2013 edition, with over 5000 more attending. This luxury weekend has been held for four years in the town and 90 different events took place during the four days of the weekend.

The councilor noted that the town council group, who organized the event alongside a group of the town’s entrepreneurs felt very satisfied and positive about the outcome of the event. Seventy-five businesses, either working as sponsors or service providers, worked together for the event and they have conducted 93 events during the four-day weekend. More than 200 media reporters from all over covered the event.

The councilman also said: “it is very positive. Hotel occupancy figures were like the ones during the month of August in Marbella with most of the hotels in town during this weekend were full, which is very positive outcome for a second weekend of June”, he added.

Hernández also pointed out that this year’s Marbella Luxury Weekend featured the new floating walkways which “had a great impact on the media, thanks to the help of Spanish designers well known abroad like Custo Barcelona or Andrés Sardá, so we want it to become a reference in the future of the city.”
